Activities at Montessori Life
Today we will be chatting about Books and Reading.
Reading is in itself a really complex brain activity, essentially it is "decoding" letters, while writing is "encoding". In order to read, many brain functions come into play: language processing, phonological awareness, working memory, visual processing and executive reasoning. It all begins with a tactile awareness of books and their value, so paging through books, looking at pictures and imagining storylines is a truly valuable pass-time.
